Gwen Stefani Markets Harajuku Lovers to the "Youngins"

Super creative with her hands in just about everything - music, fashion, beauty, fragrance - Gwen Stefani hones in on the video-yourself craze (think youtube, etc) by marketing her Harajuku Lovers fragrance line to young girls. Her company worked with agency Syrup to create a karaoke video sharing program in which fans can record and post videos of themselves singing to her songs. Visitors to the site can vote and comment on videos, purchase fragrance, and watch other promo videos from the company.

I have nothing bad and everything good to say about Gwennie's Harajuku Lovers fragrances. I have several myself with my fave being Love and recommend them to anyone wanting a little extra fun in their life and lovely scent on their bod. x

A 40 Year Old Woman with Harajuku Love

Yes! This 40 year old woman has just purchased herself one of these adorable and fervently yummy fragrances. Love!

So this is the deal. My teenage daughter and I have been trying to pass the time away while on evacuation from Hurricane Gustav. What else would an admitted beauty addict do but shop for beauty in a time of stress? Well .......

While shopping the local Birmingham Urban Outfitters, I picked up a fab little bottle of Love, one of Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers' scents. We don't have an Urban Outfitters near us, so this shopping expedition proved to be quite a treat, and for my daughter - a nice splurge (my bank account is still crying).

Love, a sensuous floral concocted by Yves Cassar and Pascal Gaurin of International Flavors & Fragrances, has top notes of sparkling bergamot, pink pomelo, peach and bamboo leaf mist; a heart of watery peony, living hydroponic lace rose, jasmine sambac, nectarine blossom, creamy paperwhites and Egyptian jasmine, and a drydown of petally ylang, creamy vanilla orchid, sensual musk and blond wood.

I am completely in love with Love! And luckily for me, it's perfectly appropriate for women of all ages ... don't let the cute little doll top fool you. Gwen Stefani Gets All Dolled Up

Hmmm ... MAC Fafi adorers may need to make room for a new adoration. Set for launch in September 2008, Gwen Stefani is introducing a new line of fragrances so "doll-like" you may just flip your lid for them.


Long fascinated by the whimsical style of girls in Tokyo's Harajuka area, Stefani's fragrance collection is called Harajuku Lovers. She created dolls based on herself and her four real-life backup singers - Love, Angel, Music and Baby, then turned them into scent bottles.


Gwen tells WWD magazine, "The idea that Coty would let me do five different fragrances for Harajuku Lovers was a fantasy. [But] it really had to be five . . . each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We're all saying something different with unique personalities."

The scents will each be available in two sizes: $45 for 30 ml. and $25 for 10 ml. A coffret, which includes solid perfume versions of all five, will be on counter later this fall as a permanent addition to the collection, and will retail for $60.


I for one am looking forward to these little Asian-inspired whimsies. Baby, a powdery musk by Firmenich's Harry Fremont, has top notes of freesia, bergamot and white rose; a heart of orange flower, tiare flower and jasmine petals, and a drydown of white musk, soft woods, heliotrope, vanilla and violet.
