model: Iekeliene Stange
Straight, shiny hair and bright blue eyes were the order of the day at Nicole Miller's show last Friday. Great collection - attractive nad trendy for all ages. What I'm most wowed about, though? Iekeliene Stange with cornsilk, platinum blonde hair - love it!
"The hair is easy, beautiful and approachable," said Bumble and Bumble editorial stylist Rolando Beauchamp, who used minimal product to create the "very clean" look — articulated by long straight strands divided by a strong center part. "There's a lot of geometric shapes in Nicole's collection, so the only severity in the hair is the center part."
To achieve the simple super-shiny coifs, Beauchamp applied Bumble and Bumble's Styling Cream onto wet hair for hold and shine and then added just a little bit of the brand's Grooming Cream to smooth ends.
Soft, easy hair was offset by dramatic blue eyes from makeup artist James Kaliardos, of MAC Cosmetics. "I wanted to prove you could do a smoky eye, but with color," said Kaliardos, who used MAC's Marine Blue Ultra Paint Stick as a base on the lid, before applying the brand's Freshwater eye shadow under the eyes and on lids. He finished off the look extending MAC's Atlantic Blue shadow slightly past the inner and outer corner of the eye.
"It's out, it's up but it's not too cat — it's smoky and sophisticated," said Kaliardos. Lips were lightly painted in MAC's Lilicent Cream Blush with "a soft, diffused edge, while Kaliardos gave cheeks a warm, creamy glow by applying MAC's Pear Color Cream Blush for "subtle contouring" and Tahitian Sand Beauty Powder for a soft finish.
"It wouldn't have made sense to do something too avant-garde," said Kaliardos. "It's classic and wearable."
