Glo Minerals: You Want HOW MUCH for that Makeup?

gloMinerals

If you're like me, you enjoy finding new brands and unique products to try. A few years ago I came upon GloMinerals and requested some samples of their liquid mineral foundation for trial. They were very generous in sending several shades for me to try. The coverage was great, I liked the SPF factor (keep in mind, this was years ago before it became fashionable to include SPF in foundations and moisturizers), and a little went a long way. So, I bought a tube, and I liked it.

I've not really re-visited GloMinerals again, though, since that first and only purchase. Not because I wasn't pleased with the product, I just got caught up trying other up and coming foundations from other brands as I do with almost every beauty product (except for my few HG's which I ALWAYS have on hand - see side column). As it's Earth Month, I decided to take another look at the GloMinerals offerings and requested a catalog by mail. It arrived yesterday. I am still in a state of shock! They must be half out their minds ...

These prices are outrageous

Let's do a little product/brand price comparison, shall we? I'll compare GloMinerals products to similar products by better known brands:

Overall I'm just absolutely amazed that GloMinerals would be expecting to sell competitively with this kind of price discrepancy. Unless the products are made in gilded pots by magic fairies, I fail to see the justification for the high prices. And that's a real shame, as their products are very nice. This blogger finds the disparity too outrageous to allow me to purchase from them. What say you?

  1. Glo minerals is worth a few extra bucks for the quality of the product. One reviewer wrote about how outrageous they thought the prices were in comparison to other brands. We're talking about a difference of 5 bucks for foundation which last over 6 months. If you like a product then u pay the extra few dollars. Its as simple as that.

    1. I absolutely agree as I have been using their powder foundation and I must say none comes close to it!

  2. I ran out of my Glo Minerals once and ran to the mall to buy the much-hyped Bare Minerals powder foundation. What a disappointment! The coverage does not nearly equal that of Glo Minerals nor is the coloring as natural or beautiful. I ended up throwing out my Bare Minerals after a few uses and wasted it even though it was "cheaper". I'll stick to what I know even though it is pricier. After all, you get what you pay for.

  3. Hey I agree! I think BareMinerals is just as overpriced as Glo's are,and they're harsh on skin (in my experience). My recommendation if you want QUALITY and GREAT PRICING? Erth Minerals at www.lushbrush.com

Hands down the only loose mineral makeup I buy.

  4. Wow! I'm amazed that you would compare the quality of gloMinerals to cheaper (both monetarily and quality) cosmetics. For my skin - give me this brand any day. $5 extra is such a small price to pay for this quality!!!! I absolutely love the loose base! The lip pencils are fabulous too!

  5. This is just my opinion but I don't find Glo Minerals to be of higher quality than some of the others, even the more reasonably priced minerals. Five dollars in this economy is a big deal, but to be fair, their price comparison is well over $5 more than some of the others.

Your comment, though, is so appreciated and spoken like a true Glo Minerals fan! I'm a firm believer in sticking to what we like ... you 'glo', girl! xo

  6. Iunderstand you don't support glominerals because of their prices but I was just wondering how you ruquested the samples.

  7. I love GloMinerals. I've tried cheaper and more expensive products and Glo's pressed base provides amazing coverage with no breakouts. I can't say the same for any other brand I've tried. I'll pay the $$ for a product I'm happy with!

  8. I came across few people who used Glominerals & tried other brands of cheaper, similar & expensive. But, they came back to Glominerals. The texture is so different. And it's worth it.

  9. Obviously, whomever gave you the samples did not explain the difference between glominerals and other brands. This is not a cosmetic brand, it's pharmaceutical. This makeup is sold by dermatologists worldwide because of it's ingredients. Not only does it contain physical broad-specrum sunscreens and atioxidants (vitamins A,C,E, and green tea extract) but it is triple-milled (meaning it has far better coverage and does not reflect light). It's HD ready! Only licensed professionals can sell this makeup, not just anyone. You get what you pay for.

  10. I know this blog is old, but wanted to say that Glo minerals is now Glo Beauty. Prices are even higher now. I purchased the pressed base and it's the best I've used. I have tried them all, and Glo is definitely worth the money. Bareminerals actually clogged my pores, and uses cheap ingredients in my opinion. I have compared the ingredients, and Glo has added vitamins that are good for your skin. Just wanted to share. =)
